About the Double Gambit

The Double Gambit, 3. b5, is the usual continuation of the Labahn Attack once Black replies 2...d5. Rather than protecting e4, White advances the b-pawn a second time to strike at c6, so that two pawns hang at once: Black may take on e4 with the d-pawn or on b5 with the c-pawn. White hopes for open lines and quick development in return. It remains a rare surprise weapon.
