About the Bellon Gambit

The Bellon Gambit is a rare Dutch Defense sideline. White answers 2. c4 e6 with 3. e4, offering the e-pawn to open lines against Black's loosened kingside before Black has developed. Accepting with 3...fxe4 is the usual reply, chosen in about two thirds of games. The alternatives are 3...Nf6 and the check 3...Bb4+; the check is uncommon but has scored well for Black. The engine slightly favors Black, though practical results are close to even.
