About the Nei Gambit

The Nei Gambit arises when Black meets the Mikenas-Carls Variation, 1. c4 e6 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. e4, with 3...c5 and answers 4. e5 by retreating the knight to g8. Black gives up time and lets White gain space with the e5 pawn. The most frequent reply is 5. Nf3. White can also support the pawn with 5. f4, while 5. d4 is rarer but scores best. The engine gives White a slight edge.
