Train it in TheoriaAbout the Carls-Bremen System
The Carls-Bremen System is the standard development scheme of the King's English. With 3. g3, White prepares Bg2, putting the bishop on the long diagonal to press on the central light squares, above all d5, and on Black's queenside. The cost is a slightly looser kingside: once White castles, the king relies on that bishop, and its exchange can leave weak light squares. The engine rates the position as roughly balanced, and White scores slightly better in practice.
Black's replies decide the structure. The most common, 3...d5, occupies the center at once, before 4. Bg2 can add a further guard on d5, and produces the Reversed Dragon, a Sicilian Dragon with colors reversed and White a tempo up. 3...c6, the Keres Variation, is considered the sharpest. It takes c6 from the knight but prepares ...d5 and blunts the g2-bishop, after which White tries to undermine Black's broad center with the c-pawn, the knights and the fianchettoed bishop. 3...Bb4, the Smyslov System, and 3...Bc5 develop the bishop actively first, while 3...g6 mirrors White's fianchetto.
