About the Henneberger Variation

The Henneberger Variation meets the Rubinstein Variation's 4...Nd4 with 5. O-O. White completes kingside development instead of retreating the attacked bishop or exchanging knights on d4. The bishop on b5 can then be taken, which concedes the bishop pair in return for time. Black most often captures at once with 5...Nxb5. The less common 5...c6 hits the bishop and scores well for Black. A rarer option is 5...Nxf3+. Engines judge the position as level.
