Train it in TheoriaAbout the Breyer Variation
The Breyer Variation declines the pawn offered by 6. h4. Instead, Black counterattacks d4 immediately with 6...c5, the standard French method of undermining White's pawn chain. The g5-bishop can still be taken, and White most often settles the matter with the trade 7. Bxe7. The less common 7. Nb5 has given White particularly good results on Lichess, and 7. Qg4 eyes Black's kingside. The engine assesses the position as a slight edge for White.
