About the Thunderbunny Variation

The Thunderbunny Variation arises when Black meets 4. c3 by releasing the central tension with 4...dxe4 5. Nxe4 and then hitting back with 5...e5. The knight on c6 supports this counterstrike against d4, and the advance also opens the diagonal of the c8-bishop. White's most frequent answer is 6. d5, which gains space and attacks the knight. The alternatives 6. Nf3 and 6. Be3 are also seen, and engines additionally suggest 6. Bb5. The engine rates White's edge as minimal. The line is seldom played.
