Train it in TheoriaAbout the Leningrad Variation
The Leningrad Variation arises from 8...Nb6 in the main line of the Closed Tarrasch. Black does not strike at the chain at once with 8...f6 or press d4 with 8...Qb6. Instead, the knight goes to b6, where it supports d5 and eyes the light squares, notably c4. White most often replies 9. O-O, while 9. Nf3 and 9. f4, both reinforcing the center, have scored well. The line is rarely played, and the engine gives White a clear advantage.
