Train it in TheoriaAbout the Icelandic Defense
The Icelandic Defense arises when Black answers the Bogoljubow move 5. Bd2 with 5...Ne7 rather than the more common 5...cxd4, and White replies 6. f4. The f-pawn reinforces e5 and builds a broad e5–d4–f4 front, while the bishop on d2 still lets White recapture on c3 with a piece. Black keeps up pressure on d4 with the c5 pawn and develops the knight towards f5 or c6, aiming at the White center.
