About the Richter-Grob Gambit

The Richter-Grob Gambit, 4. b3, arises after 1. g4 d5 2. Bg2 c6 3. c4 dxc4, the Grob Gambit Declined. Rather than regaining the pawn with Qa4, White offers a second one to open lines for the pieces. Black most often accepts with 4...cxb3, though 4...Bxg4, taking the g-pawn instead, is nearly as common. The engine rates Black clearly better, Black scores well in practice, and the line is rarely seen.
