Train it in TheoriaAbout the Romford Countergambit
The Romford Countergambit meets White's 3. c4 by advancing 3...d4 instead of capturing on c4. The push gains central space and keeps the c-pawn from undermining d5, but it leaves the b7-pawn to the g2-bishop. White almost always takes it with 4. Bxb7, which restores the material balance. The less common alternative is 4. Qb3. The engine rates the position as clearly better for Black. In online practice, however, White scores well after 4. Bxb7.
