About the Van Kuijk Gambit

The Van Kuijk Gambit arises after 1. g3 h5 2. Nf3 h4. It extends the Lasker Simul Special: Black drives the rook pawn into White's fianchetto chain and offers it in order to open the h-file. The capture 3. Nxh4 is the most frequent reply and the engine's choice, and it leaves White clearly better. Taking with 3. gxh4 spoils White's kingside pawns, while 3. Bg2 simply continues development. Online results are close to even.
