About the Mieses Defense

In this branch of the Evans Gambit's 6...exd4 line, Black answers 7. O-O by bringing the king's knight to e7 rather than f6, where it would be exposed to an e4-e5 advance. Black is two pawns ahead, and the engine rates the position as roughly balanced. The most common reply is 8. cxd4, which rebuilds a pawn center. 8. Ng5 joins the c4-bishop against f7 and scores well for White. 8. Qb3 is a less frequent alternative.
