A rare main line of the Scotch Gambit's Anderssen Attack in which White answers Black's queen maneuvers with 11. Bg5, keeping pressure for a pawn.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Main Line
The main line of the Anderssen Attack follows 8...Qa5 9. Nxe4 Be6 10. Bd2 Qd5 and ends with 11. Bg5. The bishop takes the e7 and d8 squares under fire, making Black's kingside development and queenside castling more awkward while the e-file stays open. Black, still a pawn ahead, most often replies 11...Bd6, with 11...Be7 and 11...Bb4 the other main choices. Engines rate the position as roughly level, and it seldom occurs in practice.
