An unsound Scotch Gambit sideline in which White, already two pawns down, also offers the queen's knight with 6. Nc3 to open lines against Black's king.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Nakhmanson Gambit
The Nakhmanson Gambit, 6. Nc3, comes after the Double Gambit Accepted of the Scotch Gambit. White adds the queen's knight to the two pawns already offered. The aim is rapid development and play down the open e-file against Black's uncastled king and the knight on e4. The engine judges Black clearly better, with 6...dxc3 the strongest reply. White still scores well in practice, particularly against that capture. 6...Nxc3 is the most frequent answer. The gambit is absent from grandmaster play.
