About the Göring Variation

The Göring Variation is the move 10...Qc7 in the 8. Be2 h6 branch of the Polerio Defense. The queen attacks the white knight on e5 directly and adds to Black's development while Black remains a pawn down. White almost always answers 11. d4, supporting the knight from the center. The rarer 11. f4 and 11. Nc4 are the alternatives. The engine rates the position as roughly balanced, and the line is seldom seen in practice.
