The Horny Defense meets the Allgaier sacrifice by developing with gain of time. After 6. Nxf7 Kxf7 7. Qxg4, the reply 7...Nf6 hits the queen. Once White collects a second pawn with 8. Qxf4, 8...Bd6 attacks it again. Black keeps a piece for two pawns, and engines assess the position as a large advantage for Black. The most common answer is 9. e5, ahead of 9. Bc4+. Black scores heavily in practice.
