A rare countergambit in the Bishop's Gambit in which Black answers 3. Bc4 with 3...f5, hitting e4 at the cost of doubled f-pawns and a loose kingside.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Gianutio Gambit
The Gianutio Gambit, 3...f5, strikes at e4 at once instead of defending the extra pawn or checking on h4. It leaves Black with doubled f-pawns and a weakened e8–h5 diagonal. Theory regards it as inferior, though the engine rates the position as roughly level and favors 4. Qe2, 4. Qh5+ or 4. h4. In practice 4. exf5 is the usual reply, ahead of 4. e5 and 4. Nc3. The line is rarely played.
