About the Gianutio Countergambit

The Gianutio Countergambit answers 3. Nf3 with 3...f5. Black offers a second pawn so that White's e-pawn is drawn away from the center. The idea resembles that of the Adelaide Countergambit. The most common reply is 4. exf5, after which 4...d5 lets Black aim to recover the pawn with ...Bxf5. 4. e5 and 4. Bc4 are the main alternatives. Engines give White a slight edge, while practical results are close to even.
