Train it in TheoriaAbout the Neumann Defense
The Neumann Defense, 5...Nc6, brings a knight into play and confronts the centralized white knight on e5 instead of protecting the pawn on g4. White most often replies 6. Nxg4, winning back one of the gambit pawns, while 6. Nxf7 has fared poorly in the small sample of recorded games. Engines also consider 6. d4 and 6. Nxc6. The line is seldom played, and the position is assessed as roughly balanced.
