The Greco Variation meets 3. exf5 with 3...Qh4+. Black leaves the f4-pawn alone and uses the e1–h4 diagonal that 2. f4 weakened, giving a queen check at once. Black stays a pawn down, and White's only structural concession is a pair of doubled f-pawns. In practice White almost always blocks with 4. g3, which also hits the queen and gains time. The engine also considers 4. Ke2 and rates White clearly better. The line is seldom played.
