A rare, unsound reply to the King's Gambit in which Black plays 2...g5, leaving both the e5- and g5-pawns open to capture by the f-pawn.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Zilbermints Double Countergambit
The Zilbermints Double Countergambit, 2...g5, meets the King's Gambit by striking at the f4-pawn with the g-pawn. This leaves White's f-pawn able to capture on either e5 or g5, and Black's kingside is loosened further. The most common reply is 3. fxe5, which is also the engine's top choice. 3. Nf3 and 3. fxg5 are the other frequent tries. Engines judge White's advantage to be large, Wikibooks considers the line beyond repair, and it is very rarely played.
