Train it in TheoriaAbout the Morgado Defense
The Morgado Defense, 3...Nf6, answers the Mayet Attack by developing the knight and hitting e4 instead of capturing with 3...fxe4. It is the usual amateur choice, often from players accustomed to the accepted Latvian, but it is considered inferior. The engine gives White a clear advantage. The most frequent reply is 4. Nxe5, which removes the e5-pawn and eyes f7. The main alternatives are 4. exf5, which scores best for Black, and 4. d3.
