Train it in TheoriaAbout the Polerio-Svedenborg Variation
The Polerio-Svedenborg Variation, 4...d5, is the most common and best-regarded answer to the Mayet Attack. The pawn attacks the bishop on c4 and rules out Nf7, but White has 5. Qh5+. After 5...g6 6. Nxg6 hxg6 7. Qxh8 Kf7, Black has given up the exchange and the game is objectively equal. Retreating with 5. Bb5+ or 5. Be2 is less forcing, and the popular 5. Bb3 loses to 5...Qg5.
