Bayonet Attack

The Bayonet Attack is an uncommon, aggressive reply to the Lion Defense. White meets 3...Nbd7 with 4. g4, threatening g5 to dislodge the f6-knight and grab kingside space before Black completes ...e5. Black answers about equally often with 4...e5, striking at the center at once, and 4...h6, which stops g5 and is the engine's first choice. The engine gives White a slight edge, and White scores somewhat better than Black in practice.
