A Neo-Grünfeld line in which Black answers White's fianchetto setup and 6. c4 with 6...Nc6, hitting d4 with the knight before moving the c-pawn.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Polgar Variation
The Polgar Variation, 6...Nc6, develops the queen's knight against d4 and leaves the c-pawn at home. This forgoes both the Slav-style support of 6...c6 and the direct strike 6...c5. Because the knight blocks the c-pawn, d5 has less backing. The usual reply is 7. cxd5, after which White scores well. The main alternative, 7. Nc3, gives Black better practical results. Engines give White a slight edge, and the line is uncommon.
