About the Grinberg Gambit

The Grinberg Gambit meets the early ...Bf5 of the Janowski Variation with 4. e4, a pawn attacked by both the f5-bishop and the f6-knight, offered in return for time and central activity. Black most often accepts with 4...Nxe4. 4...Bxe4 is the other way to take, while 4...Bg6 declines and keeps the bishop. The gambit is rarely played, Lichess results are close to even, and engines judge the position roughly balanced.
