A flexible Pirc line in which Black meets the Quiet System with 6...c6, preparing queenside expansion and a later central challenge.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Czech Defense
With 6...c6, Black adopts the flexible pawn move typical of the Czech, or Pribyl, Defense. It prepares ...b5 on the queenside and keeps a central challenge with ...e5 in reserve. The most common reply is 7. h3, which denies the black bishop g4. 7. a4 restrains ...b5, and 7. Bg5 develops with pressure. Engines give White a slight edge, and White also scores somewhat better in practice.
