A rare gambit in the Polish Opening in which White meets 2...f6 with 3. e4, offering the b4-pawn for a center; engines slightly favor Black.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Tartakower Gambit
The Tartakower Gambit arises when White answers 2...f6 with 3. e4. That move protects e5 and blunts the b2-bishop, so White does not defend the loose b4-pawn and builds a center instead. Black most often accepts with 3...Bxb4, and that capture scores well for Black. The alternatives 3...d5 and 3...Ne7 are much less common. Engines judge White's compensation insufficient and give Black a slight edge. The line remains a rarely seen sideline of the Polish Opening.
