About the Godes Variation

The Godes Variation, 3...Nd7, answers the Normal Variation of the Queen's Gambit Accepted with a knight move that does not contest e4 and shuts in the c8-bishop. It is seldom played. White's three main replies, 4. Nc3, 4. e3 and 4. e4, occur about equally often. The engine favors 4. e4 and gives White a slight edge, while in online games White scores best after 4. e3.
