Train it in TheoriaAbout the Mar del Plata Gambit
The Mar del Plata Gambit departs from the Bernstein Variation at move 11. Instead of guarding d5 with 11...Qd6, Black plays 11...Rd8, and after 12. c4 develops with 12...Be6. The bishop now supports d5 against the c4-pawn, but it no longer covers b7, which the queen on b3 attacks. Black gives up that pawn for quick development and pressure in the center rather than defending passively.
