About the Capablanca Variation

The Capablanca Variation of the Queen's Indian Defense arises when Black, after 4. g3 Bb7 5. Bg2, gives the check 5...Bb4+ in the manner of the Bogo-Indian Defense instead of the more usual 5...Be7. White most often blocks with 6. Bd2, while 6. Nbd2 and 6. Nc3 are less common alternatives. The engine rates the position as roughly balanced, and White scores slightly better in the database.
