A Richter-Veresov line in which White meets 3...Nbd7 with 4. Nf3, a quiet developing approach that leaves the position roughly balanced.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Two Knights System
The Two Knights System arises when White answers 3...Nbd7 with 4. Nf3, developing the second knight rather than preparing e4 with f3. Because Black's queen knight can recapture on f6, Bxf6 no longer spoils the pawn structure. The most common replies are 4...h6, questioning the bishop, and 4...e6. 4...c6 is also played, as is the fianchetto 4...g6, known as the Grünfeld Defense. The engine rates the position as roughly balanced, and Black scores well online.
