Ruy Lopez line in which White accepts the Deferred Schliemann pawn with 5. exf5; a rare choice that lets Black seize space and the initiative.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Jaenisch Gambit Deferred
In this line White captures the f-pawn offered by 4...f5 instead of playing the critical 5. d4. Black usually answers 5...e4, hitting the f3-knight and gaining space, while 5...Nf6 and 5...b5 are the main alternatives. Engines give Black a slight edge after the capture, and Black scores well in practice. Against the immediate 3...f5, the corresponding capture 4. exf5 is also considered inferior.
