The Rubinstein System is an uncommon deviation from the Normal Variation of the Semi-Slav. White answers 5...Nbd7 with 6. Ne5 instead of 6. Bd3, planting the knight on the central outpost before completing development. Black most often exchanges it immediately with 6...Nxe5, while 6...Bd6 contests the square through development. The engine rates the position as roughly balanced, and the line seldom appears in online play.
