A sharp B50 Sicilian sideline in which Black grabs the e4-pawn and White answers with d5, giving up material for time and an attack on the c6-knight.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Basman-Palatnik Double Gambit
Black's 6...Nxe4 wins a pawn, and instead of regaining it White plays 7. d5, chasing the c6-knight. After 7...Qa5+ 8. Nc3 Nxc3 9. bxc3, Black remains a pawn up but must decide where the knight goes. 9...Ne5 is the usual retreat, ahead of 9...Nb8 and 9...Nd8. White's lead in development and open lines give a slight edge despite the pawn deficit, and White scores well in practice. The line is rarely played.
