A sharp, rarely played Sicilian sideline in which Black grabs the e4-pawn with ...Nxe4 after White recaptures on d4 with the c-pawn.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Basman-Palatnik Gambit
In the 2...d6 3. c3 branch of the Delayed Alapin, Black answers 4. Be2 Nc6 5. d4 cxd4 6. cxd4 by taking the e4-pawn with 6...Nxe4. White, now a pawn down with an isolated d-pawn, almost always replies 7. d5, hitting the c6-knight while Black's other knight sits exposed in the center. White scores well after 7. d5, and engines give White a slight edge despite the missing pawn.
