Train it in TheoriaAbout the Schofman Variation
The Schofman Variation arises in the Grand Prix Attack after 3...g6 4. Nf3 Bg7 5. Bc4 e6 6. f5. White pushes the f-pawn straight into Black's e6-g6 chain, offering it for capture in order to open the f-file and the bishop's diagonal toward f7. The engine regards the push as premature and gives Black a slight edge, yet White scores well in practice. Black's usual reply is 6...Nge7, declining to capture. The captures 6...gxf5 and 6...exf5 are seen less often.
