Train it in TheoriaAbout the Petronić Attack
6. Rg1, also known as the Freak Attack, prepares an early g4 in the spirit of the Keres Attack, often followed by h4 and f4, while giving up kingside castling and loosening f3. Black most often answers 6...e5, and 7. Nb3 Be6 8. g4 d5 is considered the antidote, opening the center and trading pieces before White's attack starts. The immediate 6...h5 stops g4 at once. The engine rates the position as balanced.
