Train it in TheoriaAbout the Paulsen Variation
The Paulsen Variation reaches the Classical Scheveningen through the Najdorf move order. After 5...a6, White plays 6. f4, the Amsterdam Attack, before 7. Be2, so the f-pawn is already on f4 by move six. Black answers with ...Qc7 and ...Nc6, placing the queen on the c-file and adding control of e5 against White's planned e5 break. The usual continuation is 9. Be3, after which White has scored somewhat better than Black.
