About the Boor Attack

The Boor Attack, 5. f3, departs from the symmetrical development typical of the Exchange Slav by preparing e4, so that White can take over the center. The price is that the f3-square is no longer available to the king's knight. It is a rare sideline. Black most often replies 5...Nc6, with 5...e6 and 5...Bf5 the other usual choices. Engines prefer 5...Qb6 and rate the position roughly balanced. White nevertheless scores well in online games.
