Train it in TheoriaAbout the Snagglepuss Defense
The Snagglepuss Defense follows 1...a5 with 2...Nc6, which attacks the d4-pawn at once rather than preparing ...b6 and ...Bb7. The knight blocks the c-pawn and rules out an early ...c5. The most common reply, 3. d5, gains space by driving the knight away with tempo. 3. Nf3 simply defends d4, and 3. Nc3 is also played. The engine rates White as clearly better, and White scores heavily in the online games that reach this position.
