About the Bogoljubow Defense

The Bogoljubow Defense is Black's 5...g6 in the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit Accepted. It prepares a kingside fianchetto and early castling while Black keeps the extra pawn. White most often answers 6. Bc4, aiming at f7. After 6...Bg7 the named attacks are 7. Ne5 (Nimzowitsch) and the h-pawn thrust 7. h4 (Mad Dog). After 7. O-O O-O White can also play 8. Qe1 (Studier) or 8. Kh1 (Kloss). The engine slightly favors Black, who also scores marginally better in practice.
