A sharp Scotch Four Knights line in which White answers the pin 4...Bb4 by grabbing the e5 pawn with 5. Nxe5, leading to tactical play as Black regains it.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Krause Gambit
The Krause Gambit, also known as the Krause Variation, has White ignore the pin 4...Bb4 and take the e5 pawn at once, the knight supported by d4. Black aims to recover material against e4 and the pinned c3 knight. Online, 5...Nxe5 is the most frequent reply. The Leonhardt Defense, 5...Qe7, hits e5 and e4; 5...Nxe4 invites 6. Qg4 Nxc3 7. Qxg7 Rf8 8. a3; 5...Bxc3+ 6. bxc3 Qe7 also occurs. Engines give White a slight edge.
