The Capablanca Variation declines the immediate pawn grab with 6. Rc1. The rook move adds support on the c-file before White commits to winning material. Black most often counters with 6...c5, and 6. Rc1 c5 7. dxc5 Be6 is the Botvinnik Variation. The quieter 6...c6 is the second choice, and White scores well against it. The rarer 6...dxc4 has given Black good results.
