Main line of the Classical Queen's Gambit Accepted: with 6...a6 Black prepares ...b5, and White chooses between allowing or preventing the expansion.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Main Line
Black's 6...a6 prepares ...b5, gaining time against the bishop on c4 and opening a route for the queen's bishop to b7. White's most frequent answer is 7. a4, the Rubinstein Variation, which stops the expansion at the cost of a hole on b4. 7. dxc5 and 7. Nc3 are also common, while 7. Qe2, the Alekhine System and old main line, permits 7...b5 and is considered to give Black equality.
