Train it in TheoriaAbout the Grünfeld Variation
The Grünfeld Variation is the restrained branch of the Barry Attack. White meets the fianchetto and castling with 5. e3 O-O 6. Be2, completing kingside development behind a d4–e3 chain and avoiding the Tarzan Attack's long castling. Black's most frequent reply, 6...c5, strikes at d4 at once and scores well. 6...c6 is a steadier alternative, and engines also consider 6...Nh5 against the f4-bishop. The position is assessed as balanced.
