The Tarrasch Defense line 6. g3, in which White fianchettoes the king's bishop to pressure d5; a positional system introduced by Akiba Rubinstein.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Rubinstein System
The Rubinstein System, 6. g3, is White's standard treatment of the Tarrasch Defense. The bishop heads for g2 to bear down on the d5-pawn, which Black can no longer reinforce with ...c6. Akiba Rubinstein introduced the setup against Tarrasch himself in 1912. Black usually answers 6...Nf6, the Prague Variation. The Swedish Variation, 6...c4, is a rarer alternative, and the early 6...cxd4 scores poorly for Black. The engine judges the position roughly balanced.
