About the Gibbins-Weidenhagen Gambit

The Gibbins-Weidenhagen Gambit, also called the Bronstein Gambit, offers the g-pawn on move two to lure Black's knight away from the center. After the most common reply 2...Nxg4, 3. e4 builds a two-pawn center with tempo, since the queen now attacks g4. The line 3. f3 Nf6 4. e4 is the Maltese Falcon. Declining with 2...d5 invites 3. g5. Engines give Black a slight edge, though White scores well in online games.
